What do we Know about Sabum Kibittum?

So it seems we have established that Babylon is OP for Science, Culture and Domination, and it has advantages for getting a religion and envoys. But what about the still pretty shady Sabum Kibittum?Things we know for sure:- Ancient era melee unit- 17 combat strength, and a 17 combat strength bonus towards cavalry (form the fist look video at 0:38. If you stop at the right frame, it even shows the combat prediction, including the +17 bonus against heavy and light cavalry. Will the bonus against cav affect War-Cart? War-Cart description says that it doesn't get penalties against anticav, but what about melee class unit that has a bonus against cavalry?)- 3 movement and 3 sight (first look video 1:05)- Not a replacement for Scout, Warrior, Archer, Spearman, Heavy Chariot, Battering Ram or Swordsman (November DLC video 2:32, all those are available and Sabum Kibittum is blurred below Swordsman)- Does not upgrade to Swordsman or Spearman (Iron working, and thus also Bronze working is unlocked at 0:38 in first look video but there is no upgrade icon in the unit action options)- Not unlocked with Masonry, Bronze working or Wheel (first look 1:30)- Not unlocked by Pottery or Archery (first look 1:25 Sabum Kibittum is already being built, while Archery unlocks and Pottery is still being researched)- In the first look video at 1:25, its production, which seems to have been just started that turn, lasts 3 turns on fast speed in a city that can have no more than 8 production (2 from palace, 1 from city center being on a flat plains, 1 from Urban Planning, 2 population working unknown tiles, but no tile the city has can have more than 2 production, no trade route as foreign trade is still being researched. Craftsmanship could not be researched yet with that culture output, so no Agoge, and no city-states have been met at that point so no bonus from a military CS). So, counting in the maximum possible overflow the production cost on fast speed is less than 32.- Is not gained at the start of the game (0:34 in the first look video the era score for making it the first time is gained)Tell me if you notice I missed anything in this list.So it has to be a completely unique unit that doesn't replace anything. It is either a Melee or Anti-Cavalry class (the intro video says melee, but the use of that term is pretty liberal, and the bonus against Cavalry would indicate to an anticav class). It is either immediately available or unlocks with Mining, Animal Husbandry, Writing, Irrigation, Astrology or Sailing. Any of those could have been unlocked at that point in the game, but using some common sense, I'd say it's not Sailing, and unlikely to be Animal Husbandry, Writing, Irrigation or Astrology. So my prediction: It indeed is a Melee class unit despite having an anticav bonus. My basis on this is that if it was an anticav class, the +17 bonus would be worded differently, and possibly divided to the standard +10 and an additional +7. Also, the wording now would indicate that there is no bonus against ranged cavalry units, which proper anticav units do have. The unit is available right from the start, the same way War-Cart is for Sumeria, and it's bonus is effective against War-Carts, giving a nasty surprise for a hyperaggressive Gilgybro player. The production cost is equal to Warrior, 40 production on normal speed (27 on fast). To me it seems like this unit would be a great unit to make couple of at the start, letting us have almost a warrior strength unit that can explore almost as effectively (before any promotions actually more effectively) as scout and probably has an useful upgrade line unlike Okihtcitaw. Not being upgradeable to Swordsman seems like a bummer though, but at least this one has its extra movement speed and sight, so it doesn't perform objectively worse than Swordsman, like Gaesatae does. If it is anticav class instead, the same thing goes, as Spearman is stronger than Sabum Kibittum in every possible combat scenario. But then it would at least upgrade to Pikeman, so the unit wouldn't be obsolete as long as it would be if it upgrades to Musketman. But the maintenance cost is probably 0, so it's not like you lose anything by having them around. via /r/civ https://ift.tt/32GEXcV
