Science fiction/fantasy/horror about creepy factories, science labs, or machines

Basically what it says in the title. Normally I say "nothing overly sexual" but I really, really doubt anything in this sub-sub-genre is going to be in a romance novel.Crime/thriller/mystery suggestions are welcome as well if applicable; I just don't think there are as many that fit.
